Getting up to speed on UU Webinars and Persony

Ah, new technology….  Have you met Persony yet?

One of the projects I’m working on in the Ballou Channing District is getting us started with webinars.  Recently the UUA Staff in Boston and many districts have started using Persony, a web conferencing platform.  I am working on getting Ballou Channing set up with this technology and hosting a series of growth oriented webinars.

Have you participated in a Persony based UU webinar?   If so, I’d love to hear your about your experience.

I’m scheduled to sit in on a couple of webinars over the next few weeks and will have my own thoughts, but I’d love to hear yours.  I’ve spoken with a number of lay leaders in my district and they articulated how busy they were BEFORE taking on a leadership role.  They thought the webinar idea is a good one.   On the other hand, I’ve had a couple leaders bring up accessibility issues and question how long it will take to get our district oriented to this tool.

Any advice for the successful deployment of Persony based district hosted webinars?  I was thinking it might be good to crank out a quickie youtube video explaining how it works, what to expect, the ease of use (I hope its easy), and the benefits.

If you’re curious about Persony you can take a look at http://persony.uua.org/ for a list of scheduled webinars.  Please check the hosting district’s website for info before attempting to register.  There is a seat limit per webinar and I’m not sure what districts are doing regarding registrations from other districts.

Any other thoughts on webinars?  Any webinar subject/topic request?
